Fireplace Replacements

Fireplace replacements are becoming more necessary as time progresses. The factory-built fireplaces installed in the 70's and 80's are reaching the end of their useful lives. In addition, parts being no longer available for these systems necessitate replacement for safe operation. Many homeowners take the opportunity to update the visual appearance of their fireplace at the time of replacement OR upgrade to a fireplace designed to heat significant spaces efficiently.

Factory Built Fireplace Replacements

This fireplace had age-related failures as well as some original installation issues. The fireplace and chimney were replaced and the old white-painted brick facade was redone with a new stone facade. A limestone hearth and limestone mantel were installed to finish off the project.

Before
After

This factory-built fireplace was improperly altered with a wood-burning insert. This installation is NOT approved for factory-built fireplaces AND the installer damaged the fireplace to make the installation. The fireplace was removed, replaced, and then a new black surround and hearth material were installed (right). The mantel and legs were able to be re-used for this project.

Wood Insert Replacement and Refacing

This "before and after" shows replacing a deteriorated system with a like-model and updating the surround. Over time, regular usage will age a system and it eventually needs replacing. After the old unit is removed, the liner is pulled and the mantel is taken down. The photo on the right shows a brand new unit after being re-lined, with a new surround, and an updated tile facade to match the customer's pre-existing hearth extension.

High Efficiency Fireplace Replacement

This was a replacement of a normal factory-built fireplace ("pre-fab" or "zero clearance") with a highly efficient EPA-certified fireplace designed to heat 2500 square feet. The finish is a stacked Bucks County ledgestone. The area above the mantel was finished by the homeowner.
